Bible Question:
What is the true meaning of? "The separation of Church and State" What defines the Church? What defines the State? How can you separate the two if both are built on the laws and principles of God? |
Bible Answer: What defines the Church? The Church is a body of believers who believe in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Whose ultimate goal is to win the lost to Christ. And live a life that's pleasing to God. Webster's defines a "state" as "the supreme public power within a sovereign political entity." Thus, what constitutes a "state" is expressly characterized by the existence of a law making and law enforcing power. You are correct both are built on the laws and principals of God. But Church and State should be separate. Church principals and laws are for those who desire to live a life that's pleasing to God. Even if we make a blunder your ultimate goal is to win the lost to Christ, Live a life that's pleasing to God and hope in his soon return. The State is for the save and unsave. It's principals are based solely on living comfortably with your neighbor peacefully if you can. Do good if you choose. To be a part of the state you don't have to be born again just be born into the world. Now based on the scripture below Church and State should be separate...This is just my point of view... 1 Cor 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |
