Subject: What is the application for Exodus 16:36 |
Bible Note: Dear Katrica, Your application would occur when you used this knowledge in understanding the passage as a whole. Moses -- or possibly one who was glossing this passage later -- thought it was necessary for our understanding the quantities mentioned in Exodus 16:16 and 18. There is an ancient school of Biblical thought called the "Alexandrian School." It sought to find hidden meaning in every story, behind every phrase, etc. However, at the time of the Reformation, the "Antiochian School" of Biblical interpretation was rediscovered. It is distinguished by an effort to interpret Biblical text historically and grammatically. It carefully avoids putting into a passage something that was never there in the first place, and to only take from it what was intended by the original writer. What I'm trying to say is that there is not necessarily some kind of hidden spiritual message in every passage of Scripture. In Him, Doc |
