Subject: Is the Christian under Law? |
Bible Note: Christ did not accomplish the fulfillment of the Law? Are you sure? Is that your final answer? Jesus said, "I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill [the law]" (Matthew 5:17]. To say that Jesus did not fulfill the law is to say that somehow Jesus did not do what He Himself said that he came to do. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness. "For Christ is the end of the Law [the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him Who is the fulfillment of its types, and in Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled. That is, the purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Him] as the means of righteousness (right relationship to God) for everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him" (Romans 10:4, Amplified Bible). |
