Bible Question:
Thank you all the the great responses. I feel that we do know the size of the observable universe, and the age as we comprehend age. This makes our Lord so enormously powerful as to leave us in total awe and Holy Fear. That He would die for us in such a horrible manner make me quake in my skin and shrivels my ego to a worm like stature. God has never been as huge and powerful as He is today and for the last 70 years or so. Since the advent of the Hubble Space Telescope, this has been driven home for today's generations. This is perhaps the lesson and legacy of science. I don't think that we should try to find a way out of this apparent inconsistancy. I don't think we should formulate constructs to explain the Mind of God. He has allowed us this scientific vanity to greater show his glory. A glory prior generations did not suspect. A glory so far beyond the scope of our apprehension that we are virtually non-existant in the backdrop of his infinite creation. Perhaps He is feeding us solid food here and expects our awe and praise. Are we not ready? Did The Lord not tell Abraham that his children would be as numerous as the stars in the sky? Is this not a window into God's creation and a glimps of His magnificent plan for His children? Is this heresy? |
Bible Answer: I am not sure what you mean by what you are saying being heresy. It is very true that when we look at the stars we are humbled at the immensity of creation. And yet in all that we do not see His immense love for us. That is revealed to us in the unfolding drama of redemption in His revelation of Himself in the Holy Scripures cuminating in the incarnation. That is why the next verse is "What is man that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man that Thou visitest him?. The stars show us what an atom we are in comapison to that vast immensity. The scriptures show us the mind of God in regard to us. just my meusings |
