Bible Question: The inheritance of the nations (gentiles?) in Psalm 2:8, is it the same as His inheritance in the saints in Eph.1:18? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Humble Pi, Time and time again, we see Christ in the Old Testament. Here is now different. Psa 2:8(KJV) 'Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession. (All nations, Jews and Gentiles) Ask of Me and all things will be yours, the prayer of Jesus in John 17(KJV) comes to mind. Jesus asking that He resume His glory with the Father and that we might share in that glory. Through the obedience of the cross Jesus receives His inheritance.(Psa 2:8) So, in Eph 1:18(KJV) Paul prays that we, the saints, come to the understanding and knowledge of the fullness of our inheritance that is in Christ Jesus. In Psalms God says ask, Jesus asks and receives, Paul prays in Eph 1:17-18(KJV) that our hearts, not in our minds intellectually, be enlightened with a spirit of wisdom and revelation to know and to understand the greatness and the power of God toward us through Christ. That you may understand what is the glorious abundance of the spiritual things to which you are entitled, in consequence of being made children of God; for if children, then heirs, heirs of that glorious inheritance which God has provided for the saints - for all genuine Christians, whether formerly Jews or Gentiles. Eph 1:3(KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Hope this helps, terrib |
