Bible Question:
A young lady who can sing like a lark, was our lead praise singer. She was already a husbandless single mother. She became pregnant again, but the pastors/elders allowed her to continue leading the praise service. The pastor's wife has a cousin who was divorced after having an affair with a man. He has remarried another woman, and he is now the lead praise singer. How should a Church, particularly the elders and/or the pastor handle this? Should 1 Cor5:1-7 be applied? His, Bereaniam |
Bible Answer: God Bless You Bereaniam, Here are some scriptures I found concerning your question. I hope they help Matt 7:16 Ye shall know them by their FRUITS. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their FRUITS ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. I Cor. 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God I Cor. 6:13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. 15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's I Tim. 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; Titus 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; NOT SELFWILLED, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. 10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: 11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. I agree with everyone, and feel this goes much deeper although we don't know the intire situation of the two stories given. It made me think of three things I came accross, one was seeing the movie Left Behind, how the pastor gave God's word every Sunday but didn't believe himself and his flock was raptured but he was left behind. And second, I also seen a simular situation of unmarried pregnant young women in our church. I also witnessed my pastor sit them down for a period of time. They could not operate in the church untill a time period after birth. Then they could usher, get back in the choir, give announcments. Not much else was allowed, condemnation and repentance needed to take place. And last, I attended a church that has a wonderful praise and worship team, some are born again and one is not, I have a glorious time giving God praise everytime I hear them, because my spirit connects with the words of song to God and I become filled. The spirit of God will reveal those things that are not of Him, and He will teach our pastor, leader,us how to deal with each situation, if we operate in God and not in self. God is not the author of confussion. Hope this helps, God bless you all, Carol |
