Bible Question: Does this mean that there is an empty space in the north? |
Bible Answer: Greetings SunshineDays17, Here is a bit of commentary on this verse... "26:7 A remarkable description of what we now know to be a scientifically accurate description of the earth." (1) "26:7 hangs the earth on nothing. A statement that is accurate, given in ancient time, before scientific verification. This indicates the divine authorship of Scripture." (2) "26:7 Over the void ... upon nothing, the poet stresses the completeness of the creative act, ... "ex nihilo" (from nothing)." (3) I believe that Job is referring to the sky (north over empty space) and the fact that the Earth is actually an 'independent heavenly body' (planet) in space, which, for me, is further proof that Scripture was divinely inspired.
