NASB | Job 24:25 "Now if it is not so, who can prove me a liar, And make my speech worthless?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Job 24:25 "And if this is not so, who can prove me a liar And make my speech worthless?" |
Bible Question: Can anyone explain how this fits in with the rest of this chapter. I see the division between 17 and 18 where Job is changing focus and trying to qoute them. But this verse does not fit in with 18 to 24 in that case. The only reading I can come up with is that he is asking to prove if what he is quoting them as saying is false, and then his speeches are worthless. That does not seem to make sense to me. |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Job 24:18-20, 21-24, 25 ... drbobm, greetings ... Job 24:18-20 may look like Job is agreeing with his friends ... but it fits better that he is redressing those who do evil. Then, he says God judges evil, in His time (vv 21-24). In verse 25 he challanges his friends that he is not evil, because all what he said had not happened to him. |
