Bible Question:
Rev. 20:5-6 Verse 5 and 6 both talk about the thousand year reign and 5 says...reign not with Christ a thousand years and 6 say reign with Christ a thousand years? Can you explain... |
Bible Answer: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum shirsly. This is a difficult passage to explain. In order to give you the best Biblical answer I need to know if you have a study Bible of any kind? I think not or you might not of asked this question. The very simple answer is that there are more than three views on this passage beginning with verse 4 to 6. It all depends on how a person understands scripture. The three major views are; Premillennialists, Amillennialists, Postmillennialists. Each of these views interprets these verses differently. There just is not enough time or space to go into detail on each of these three views. There are many books written on each view. So I am not putting you off, so please don't think I am avoiding your question. However to give you a very basic summary I found this in my LIFE APPLICATION BIBLE. "Christ will return defeat Satan, and reign forever! Whatever the Milllenium is, Jesus Christ will unite all believers; therefore, we should not let this issue divide us." There has been great debates over this passage, and sadly it has divided Christians and even caused church splits. This disturbs me as Christ has said that the way we show love to one another is the way the world judges us as followers od Christ. (my paraphrase) I hope this brief explanation stirs you to go deeper in your study of the LORDs WORD. May God bless you. justme |
