Bible Question (short): Who was John referring to? |
Question (full): In Bible study last night we discussed 1st John,1;1-10. We were told that John was talking about a group of believers who believed that Jesus was here only in spirit and not in flesh. Forgive me for not remembering what he called these people, but one commentary I read called them Secessionists. My question is, was John writing to a specific group of people who did not believe Jesus was here in the flesh or ones who believed they never sinned? I am a Christian and strive to walk in the light everyday. But anyone who claims they have not sinned or don't believe Jesus was here in the flesh, to me anyway, is lost. I'm a little confused about these versus. A little enlightenment would be appreciated. Thank You and God Bless you for being here for folks like me. Barry |
