NASB | Nehemiah 1:11 "O Lord, I beseech You, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to revere Your name, and make Your servant successful today and grant him compassion before this man." ¶ Now I was the cupbearer to the king. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Nehemiah 1:11 "Please, O Lord, let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to [reverently] fear Your Name [Your essence, Your nature, Your attributes, with awe]; and make Your servant successful this day and grant him compassion in the sight of this man [the king]." For I was cupbearer to the king [of Persia]. |
Bible Question: If being a cupbearer involved tasting all the king ate or drank, how did Nehemiah abide by the Jewish rules about clean and unclean food ? How, with such a job description, did he "fast and pray for days" ? I'm sure there is a logical answer as Scripture is inerrant. Could you help ? |
Bible Answer: The Bible does not say so we should not guess. |
