Subject: When will Jesus return? |
Bible Note: John 146: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum! I see your are able to express your ideas and opinion of the end times quite well. I think you have formed some conclusions, that are a little fuzzy for me to grasp. My concern is you have given no Scripture to support any of your ideas, thoughts and opinions. I think what you have said is interesting, and if this were just a talk about your ideas forum that would be just fine. However, this is a Study Bible Forum, and Scriptual backing for our reasons as to why we believe what we do, is pretty essential. Please do no't take this as a negative slam, as it is just a note to remind you how the Forum should be. Personally I take Matthew chapters 24, 25 and 26 and follow what Jesus said would take place. I take quite serious that Jesus said NO ONE knows when He will return but the FATHER. Although I am not a Dispensational Premillennialists, nor a Postmillennialists, or an Amillennialists, I am able to Scriptually take the position of a Historic Premillennialists. Premillennialialism is the doctrine stating that after the Second Coming of Christ, He will reign for 1,000 years over the earth before the final consummation of God's redemptive purpose in the new heavens and the new earth of the Age to Come. This is I believe, the natural reading of Revelation 20:1-6. Show me a church that is not Premillennialists in doctrine and there is very little evangelism or outreach to the unsaved. These non Premillennialist churches tend to be liberal neo-orthodox, and interested more in the social gospel. This is a tern seldom used today. When you state "but do me and the church a favor and DON'T PREACH IT. ...is only going to hurt us if we're wrong." I do not like the LEFT BEHIND books or films, if seen as accurate, when compaired to Scripture. These Books are a little Scripture mixed with a lot of fiction that keeps anxiety high for the reader or movie goer. I DO believe there is a serious reason to proclain the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a sence of URGENCY. We know not when Jesus may return. I know of nothing yet required by Scripture to prevent Jesus from returning now. One preaching must have solid Scriptual reasons for their end time preaching. Any preacher worth a tinkers dam, has endured criticism when they preach on Christ's return. There are many views that are Scriptually based, like Dispensationalisn Premillennalism, that do have a valid view point, and do deserve careful conssssideration, and are Orthodox. I personally find some difficulty with it, but there is no reason for not having close fellowship with my brothers and sisters who do believe this. Beside when Christ returns we all will know, and perhaps we all will be in for quite a shock, as to exactally how His returN happens. I hope this has widened your scope of understanding and encouraged your use of Scripture to back thoughts and beliefs up with, I enjoy a good dialogue with respect and kindness. Blessings justme |
