Bible Question: I would like to know who the author of thessalonians was and what was the purpose of its writing. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Churchlady, Thessalonians was written in response to the report that Timothy brought back to Paul about the condition of the church and the rising persecution. Both of the books are known as the eschatological epistles. The main themes are the return of Christ, the rapture and the 2nd coming. Paul had been evicted from Thessalonica and wrote mainly out of his concern for the flock he had been separated from. Some of the purposes were: to comfort the church, answer false allegations to encourage the persecuted church remind them of the importance of moral purity condemn the sluggard lifestyle correct a wrong understanding of prophetic events difuse tension in the church teach the basics of Christian living. Hope this helps. prayon |
