Bible Question: While listening to a Christian talk show, the host stated that anxiety, fear and depression, while we are told that these are mental illnesses, cannot be an illness, since mentality is not a biological function, but basically due to personal choices when not caused by physical damage or defect. I could ot get thru to the show, so can someone show me how to back this up in scripture, without going to the obvious verse in Philippians 4:6? |
Bible Answer: Tim3:16, Brother, Just read your profile. You and I hold much in common. What scripture did the host use to support his or her supposition. I've been invovled with a CR ministry that my church operates and I Co-lead a ministry that I'm also one of the founders that ministers to those who are who are physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually afflicted. It really chaps my hide when I hear folks make statements like this individual made. I am a firm believer in 2 Timothy 2:15 and I think there is huge application even when we deal with secular issues. My doctor has been treating me for depression for over three years now along with a list of other major health issues. Brother let me assure you before I go any further here that I have no issue with you, if anything knowing what little I know you just from your profile I want to encourage you in any way I can. Now back to the subject at hand. There has been research conducted that have prooved that chemical inbalances within the brain can and do cause or impact physical or mental health issues. That's no bragg it's fact. I and many others deal with these issues every of our lives and God gives us victory every single day. Paul and Peter were well aquainted with weaknees and affliction. (2 Corinthians, 2 Peter) Go through these they will encourage you. Fell free to contact me at any time. In Him, lionheart |
