Bible Question:
But what about where it says to not be unequally yoked with nonbeliever That is the one people use to tell me a Christian should not marry a non believer |
Bible Answer: 2 Corinthians 6: 14 is the verse they are referring to, however the context really doesn't specify that it's referring to marriage. In fact, the context is referring to Believers and Unbelievers being in partnerships together, not just marriages. Yes, the meaning of Believers shouldn't be marrying unbelievers can be understood from this passage, but it can also be understood from Ephesians chapter 5. Ephesians 5 is dedicated to marriage, relationships, and family. Paul tells us that we, as christians, should conduct our relationships in a manner that reflects Christ with the Church. How can an unbeliever understand that concept? The unbeliever can not. It's written elsewhere that things of the Spirit and of God are foolishness to the Unbeliever. I referred to Ephesians 5 because that chapter specifically refers to the topic at hand. Quvmoh |
