Bible Question:
EdB: You pose an interesting question. How does one determine what is "color commentary" on how to live and what is "direction" for living? Do we read, study, and examine scripture to glean the overarching prinicple God wants us to live by? Continuing to use as an example the issue of long hair for women per 1 Corinthians, is the overarching principle God wants us to live by that women live and present themselves in such a manner as to glorify God in all manner of dress and care of self? I would humbly suggest, yes. I also cannot help but think this section in 1 Corinthians speaks to the current issue of women dressing like men and wearing their hair as many men do. Further, look at the entire context of this passage. What is the main focus? Prayer. And the second issue? The headship of man. I pray I don't raise the hackles of a few readers by tossing out some of these thoughts. I look forward to reading some of the forum contributers thoughts on this topic.
