Bible Note: Inmyheart I wasn’t being a wise guy when I said I didn’t have a problem with you answer. I was trying to say my question wasn’t focused on your answer, but rather on the common practice of taking a passage from the Bible and declaring it as not pertaining to this generation. In regards to 1 Tim 2:9 my point exactly, should this be considered an admonishment for all generations or just for the period and time when it was written. We all claim “sola scriptura” but then we will take a passage and say that does not pertain to us today that was just for that time. Most of the books of Corinthians were written to correct problems within the church of Corinth. Some of the teaching contained within 1 and 2 Corinthians is taken to pertain to the church today while others is discarded as being only applicable to the church in Corinth. My question to everyone is can we do this? EdB |
