Subject: Must a woman have long hair |
Bible Note: Inmyheart I agree what is in our hearts is far more important than what is on our backs. I also agree that cultural differences are fact and definitely effect how we interrelate to each other. And if anyone but a omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent and eternal God wrote the Bible I would say, “yes they are for the most part “color commentary” and we are to regarded or disregarded them as such.” However the fact remains God knew that these generational, cultural differences would exist and yet allowed certain aspects to be included in the text of the Bible. When this occurs in Scripture, it’s always in areas of conduct, notice how specific each are in the particular area it addresses. Notice also Scripture always talks about intent of the heart along with the actual deed. Nothing is said about execution like you shall wear togas and not button down shirts. Instead it says women should not dress like man. It doesn’t say not to curl your hair, color your hair, even perm your hair. It says man should have short hair and woman long. Nothing is mentioned like walk don’t ride in anything mechanical. Or never work on an assembly line but rather do everything by hand, never have libraries or information depositories instead pass everything down by word of mouth, only use papyrus never computers. The real things that change from generation to generation, from society to society, custom to custom are never mentioned. We the church today disregards many things contributing them to be culture, custom, generation, social and I wonder how many God actually meant to be standards for our life. EdB |
