Bible Question: what his righteouness means? |
Bible Answer: Lillie, Base on this string, I think you are reffering to Matthew 6:33. The short answer is being perfect (5:48). In the Greek, righteouness is dikaiosune (living a life acceptable to God). He said "except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees," in 5:20. In verse 17, He said He came to fulfill the Law, then says we need to practice the Law and not break it (vs 19). The rest of the chapter and most of the next, the Lord was comparing the scribes and Pharisees with Himself. They changed the Law and weren't seeking heavenly rewards or treasure.
