Bible Question: What does it mean to be "stagnant in spirit" as suggested to describe the men of Jerusalem in Zephaniah 1:12? |
Bible Answer: Lord, keep us from being complacent! They were at a standstill, there was no spiritual growth, no searching for the Lord. They were happily going about business as usual. I think about a stagnant pond. Algae growing, mosquitos swarming, oozing and mucky. No growth, no new life and foul things beginning to creep in. Decay. Without seeking, studying, staying excited about the Lord, fellowshiping with other believers and worshipping (even though there may be seasons of silence)keeps your spirit alive and thriving.
