AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Chronicles 25:1 Moreover, David and the commanders of the army selected for the [temple] service some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals. The list of the musicians who performed their service was as follows: |
Bible Question: Is Asaph in Psalms 73-89 the recorder or the one who prophesizes? I think I can understand 73-89 better if I know which one he is? |
Bible Answer: It is unclear from the preposition itself whether the songs and poems are attributed to or dedicated to Asaph. I would think it more likely a dedication would be made to someone famous. Psalm 77 also refers to Jeduthun who is mentioned in 1 Chron 25:2 with Asaph so it is this Asaph, the one who prophesizes, and not the father of Joah, the recorder, in Isaiah 36:3 who is referred to. |
