Bible Question:
2 Kings Chapter 9 can some one help me understand this chapter in kings? ok so, this is the important things that i have collected out of it Elisha tells a young boy who was with the prophets to go get Jehu and anoint him with oil and then tell him that the lord anoints him king over isreal. after that, all i realize is that Joram dies by an arrow, and then jezebel gets thrown out the window and eaten by the dogs. I don't really see the importance of this chapter in the bible. I don't see what i am supposed to learn from this segment of the bible. maybe i am not trying hard enough, but i just feel like there is something deeper that i am missing. |
Bible Answer: Do a word study on Ahab and Jezebel. That means take a concordance and look up every reference to them. When you do this you will see that Jezebel worshiped idols and led her husband to do the same and he being king of Israel led the people away from God. They worshipped the Baals. The importance of this chapter shows that the living God is God over all governments. It also shows that to rebell against God brings His judgment when we do not turn away from evil and turn to Him and worship and obey Him. Disobedience eventually brings God's wrath. May God bless you. |
