Bible Question: Was Elijah taken in the fiery chariot within the whirlwind? We know that a fiery chariot separated Elija from Elisha when God chose to take Elijah away in a whirlwind. Elijah utters "My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel;" a sight possibly similar to the hills surrounding Elisha when being threatened by enemy capture in 2nd Kings 6:17 during his own ministry. These fiery chariots with fiery horses hint at having angelic drivers who wait to protect Elisha. Are these angels the horsemen of Israel? But in Elijah's story, did he climb into the chariot before he ascended in the whirlwind? This detail would help me tremendously in writing a musical about Elijah. |
Bible Answer: There is a great picture of this scene at mountsunset.com/pictures.php |
