AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Kings 4:28 Then she said, "Did I ask for a son from my lord? Did I not say, 'Do not give me false hope'?" |
Bible Question: why didnt she say the son had died? Did Elijah think he was just sick? How does this apply to us today? |
Bible Answer: Elisha sent his servant, Gehazi, to meet the Shunammite woman (v. 26) and she told him that all was well because she wanted to talk with the man of God. We see Gehazi's heart in how he comes to push the woman away (v. 27). Elisha knew she was vexed but didn't know exactly what was troubling her (v. 27). Applying this to us today we learn it's not wrong to want to go to the top for answers or help. In the Shunammite's case, it was the man of God. In our case, we can go directly to God.
