AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Kings 20:14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, "What did these men say [that would cause you to do this for them]? From where have they come to you?" Hezekiah said, "They have come from a far country, from Babylon." |
Bible Question: I was wondering if anyone could exsplain to me more about Hezekiah's pride after God gave him 15 more years to live? I have read it and chapter 21 but I just am not getting it for some reason. |
Bible Answer: Hezekiah pleaded and received 15 more years. In that time some visitors came from Babylon. Hezekiah in his pride bragged on his wealth displaying it all to them. They left desiring that wealth and we will later see Babylon come and conquered Israel taking all the wealth Hezekiah had shown them. 2 Kings 20:14-16 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah, and said to him, "What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?" So Hezekiah said, "They came from a far country, from Babylon." [15] And he said, "What have they seen in your house?" So Hezekiah answered, "They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shown them." [16] Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the Lord: 2 Kings 20:19 So Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good!" For he said, "Will there not be peace and truth at least in my days?" Not only that he really didn’t care about the future generations he only cared about the time he had left. He was a true example of many today. EdB |
