Bible Question: In the book of Exodus what form did the death angel, in the story of the plagues upon Egypt in the last plague , what form did the death angel take? |
Bible Answer: Hi Moriah, Exodus 12:23 speaks of the "destroyer". "For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you." In Numbers 33:4 It says that the Lord struck down the firstborn but I think this means that it was the Lord that "ordered" it and an angel did the destroying. Referring back to the plagues on Egypt, in the NASB, Psalms 78:49 says that they were "a band of destroying angels" while the KJV calls them “Evil angels”. Other passages mentioning a destroying angel are in 1Chron 21:12,15 but I’m sure there are more. I don't know the "form" of the destroyer. I presume whatever form an angel is. Hebrews 11:28 in the New Living Translation speaks of the "angel of death". "It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons." This is the only translation that uses "angel of death". God Bless!! bgg |
