Bible Question: When does God tell Moses to assign men over groups of 1000, 100, 50 and 10 to hear the cases of the Israelites? Jethro makes the suggestion to Moses in Exodus 18, but says to do it if God says to, and it says Moses does it. But when does God tell him to? |
Bible Answer: Jethro was the "priest of Midian" descended from Abraham, who'd lived with Moses some 40 years. (Exodus 2:16; 3:1; 18:12; Deuteronomy 1:9-15) Hence, his advice was in harmony with God's will and so would be from God. (Compare 2 Chronicles 35:20-22.) |
