Bible Question: tremere123: From your post # 67733: In answer to the question regarding the qualifcations of an elder, you posted this: "I think that an elder is someone who is either older than you or someone in authority"...etc. The New Testament lays down specific qualifications for elders. What are they, and why did you not answer this question from Scripture instead of with a vague and rambling series of "I thinks"? --Hank |
Bible Answer: 1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 1 Peter 5:1 The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Hebrews 11:1,2 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders, Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." By the way, this was not the Scripture I was referring to in this peticular reply but I will find it and post it. |
