Bible Question:
Greetings Heir of God! Let me state up front that I am not an admirer of Benny Hinn, so you know where I am coming from. To me, Benny Hinn's teaching is a good example of how wild speculation becomes accepted without regard to the context of Scripture. Look at Jer. 4:23-26: "I looked at the earth, and it was formless and empty; and at the heavens, and their light was gone. 24 I looked at the mountains, and they were quaking; all the hills were swaying. 25 I looked, and there were no people; every bird in the sky had flown away. 26 I looked, and the fruitful land was a desert; all its towns lay in ruins before the LORD, before his fierce anger." The questions that must be answered in looking at a passage like this are: 1) What is the context? 2) What is the time frame? 3) What cities are mentioned? The context of Jer. 4 is clear. The Babylonians are coming in from the north to attack Judah (Jer. 4:4-6). This attack is part of God's punishment for Judah's sin and rebellion. The time frame of Jer. 4:23-26 is the near future, not the distant past. The cities mentioned in Jer. 4:26 refer to the cities of Judah, not ancient Demon cities. Jer. 4:23-26 is simply a passage (in an apocalyptic style) describing the near future destruction of Judah by the Babylonians. I would lovingly urge you to avoid Benny Hinn. His doctrine and theology are dangerously flawed. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
Bible Answer: Thanks for the warning but,we will all find out what it really was when we see Jesus. Even though when I studied it I found that it is credible to say that there were demon cities on the earth. The scripture says that there was no man. It didn't say there were no inhabitants-so somebody had to build those cities. If it was a future reference then Jeremiah would have seen men. Just as when the sons of God took the daughters of men to wife. The bible never says that angels don't have gender-(not from what I have seen-if you have tell me), It only says that they are niether married nor given in marriage. In addition to that the bible never says exactly who Cain married but "theologians" try to explain what happened without a scriptural basis for it. We just say it must have been and nobody discredits it. So if we can assume that Cain married his sister with no scriptural basis for it, how is it that God could not reveal the same kind of thing about who and what was here before man. Think about it we assume lots of things in the Bible. Especially in the old testament. If it was future the earth would not be without form and void, it would not have been desolate. Let's just think for a minute and stop looking at who is bringing the message and listen to the message this may have some merit if God reveals it to us. Don't think that Benny Hinn is just a false prophet. One brother answered me and said that Benny Hinn should stick to praying for the sick-why should he pray for the sick if his doctrine is not sound. We can't just look at the messenger. I thought the same about Benny Hinn, Jack Van Impe, and Kim Clement (he said a few words that I didn't think a Christian would feel comfortable saying), but they are all messengers of God. Let's study to show ourselves approved before we touch one of God's annointed to break down thier ministry. Love In Christ, Heir of God |
