Bible Question: The bible states that God created "them"... Male and female on the 6th day, but God didn't breathe life into (created) Adam until the 7th day and Eve till a bit later. Did he create a race of people in reference to Gen. 6 on the sixth day? This would explain how the children of Adam and Eve had marriages and children. Certainly God didn't approve of incest as many suggest. |
Bible Answer: Greetings, First off, where does it say that man was created on the Seventh Day? Genesis 2:2-3 specifically say that he rested and sanctified the seventh day as a day of rest. Second, Genesis 2:4 specifically states that this is "the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made Earth and Heaven". The rest of chapter two specifically deals with the Garden of Eden, which wasn't created on the third day like the vegetation around the world, but afterwards on the sixth day when God created man to give man a home. Third, the laws against incest didn't come around until centuries later during the time Moses. In fact, genetic diversity probably didn't really become a factor until the Tower of Babel after the Great Flood. So, the idea of incest wouldn't have been much of a taboo during the early days of Genesis as it would be later. Jalek |
