Bible Question: why did Jesus retaliate very harshly when he saw people doing business in the temple where as Jesus teaching was to pardon others always and never react in a violent way. He told us show the other cheek also when someone slaps and to pardon your brother 70 times and not 7. Won't this act of Jesus at the temple tells us that we can also react harshly if required. |
Bible Answer: Hi, Four Square! There are many teachings in the Bible that can confound us... Remember the strange fire that the two sons of Aaron presented before Yahweh--they were struck dead by God! We cannot serve God in whatever manner we please... true there has been a change, according to the Divine Plan, of how God deals with people; but God has never asked to be worship "as you please." That was Cain's flaw... he came to God with an offering of his own choosing--while Abel offered the best of his efforts! God could never have blessed Cain! Jesus is fulfilling the prophecy about the Temple and letting His authority be felt! (Jeremiah 7:9-11) God Bless! Angel |
