AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Samuel 6:16 ¶ Then, as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David, Michal, Saul's daughter [David's wife], looked down from the window above and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she felt contempt for him in her heart [because she thought him undignified]. |
Bible Question:
What is the time elapsed between II Sam 6:20 and II Sam 11? In other words between Michal seething against David and David's sin with Bathsheeba? Did the former have anything to do with the latter? Thanks. Just found this site. |
Bible Answer: I'm not sure about the time elapsed b/w the 2 events. My understanding is that they had nothing to do w/ one another. Michal was mad w/ David b/c of his manner of worship to God. He took off his outer royal garments. He then danced and worshipped right along side the commoners as the ark of God was brought to Jerusalem. Michal, being pagan, was unhappy with the way David's humble relationship w/ both God and his people. If you like the life of David, I recommend "Pursuing God's Own Heart" by Jerry Vines. It's a very good book on the lessons to be learned from the life of David. |
