AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Samuel 13:1 It happened afterwards that Absalom the son of David had a beautiful sister whose name was Tamar, and Amnon [her half brother] the son of David was in love with her. |
Bible Question:
2 samuel 13 It is true David did n't handle this issue properly otherwise Amnon should have been called to order. It is also true that Absalom nursed veageance in his heart for over two years before reacting. So what can we say about Amnon forcefully sleeping with his half sister? Is this not equivalent to incest? I need to be clear with this. In this part of the world, it is considered an abomination. |
Bible Answer: What is Incest? How is it defined? The New Living Translation Leviticus 18 6 "You must never have sexual intercourse with a close relative, for I am the LORD." 9 "Do not have sexual intercourse with your sister or half sister, whether she is your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was brought up in the same family or somewhere else." 11 "Do not have sexual intercourse with the daughter of any of your father's wives; she is your half sister." (Note: the Law was given 430 years AFTER Abraham.) |
