Bible Note: Hey Swerv, concerning the sabbath, according to ancient tradition, niether saturday or sunday is actually correct. Our calander is based off of the sun, and God originally used the moon as an indicator. As in Genisis 1:5,the day began at night fall, since darkness preceeded light. "The evening and the morning were the fist day". Originally we used the new moon to mark the first day of the month, which the night of the new moon was a sabbath, then we would count the days, the seventh being the sabbath, but with our modern calander, the day of the week on which the sabbath falls varies from month to month.Ezekiel 46:1,Amos 8:5,Ezra 3:5, Hosea 2:11, all prove that the new moon was a Holy Day. Technically Sunday is the first day of the week. But as Paul said in Colossians 2:16, no man can judge you wether you keep these days holy or not; Romans 14:5. The most important thing now is to get ourselves right with the Lord! Which brings us to the next subject, repentance; To make a change for the better as a result of remorse or contrition for one's sins. Jesus had a message; repent and sin no more! Luke 13:3, John 5:14, John 8:11. 1John 3:4 tells us that sin is transgression of the law! Mathew 5:17 tells us that the law is in effect, verse 19 says we should not teach that the law is null and void. Also in Isaiah 66:22-23, God says that we will keep the sabbath (law) in the Kingdom. Christ took away the penalty of the law, which is death; bringing grace. not the law itself. For he is the will of the father in the flesh, and as the scripture says; Can two walk together, except they be agreed? |
