Bible Question: why did noah curse cannan |
Bible Answer: The question lies in the definition of the term nakedness. This was what Ham did - saw his fathers nakedness,Gen 9:22, I know the scripture does not descibe all the intricacies, But I submit the following for your consideration. In Lev 18:6, "None of you shall approach any blood relative of his to uncover nakedness; I am the Lord". verse 7 states that the nakedness of your father is your mother. verse 13 states a situation of uncovering nakedness, where the person is a blood relative. verse 17 also refers to blood relatives, and states that it is lewdness. Now if you know what happens when blood relatives (the examples in Lev 18 are close blood relatives) have intercourse resulting in child birth(inbreeding),certain abilities are diminished (retardedness). One apparent thing they didn't lack was the tendency toward wickedness. So I believe that Canaan was the result of relations between Ham and his mother. I believe there you have the reason why Canaan was cursed to be a servant of servants. I think it was announced by Noah to show his disapproval and understanding that Canaan would be genetically defective, it seems like a natural (God ordained) thing that Canaan was (genetically) cursed at conception for the violation of God's Law on the matter.
