AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 6:4 There were Nephilim (men of stature, notorious men) on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they gave birth to their children. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown (great reputation, fame). [Num 13:33] |
Bible Question: Who are the sons of God and the daughters of men refering to in this verse? |
Bible Answer: Just an observation here on the Nephilim in Gen. 6:4. Everyone always assumes that they were the result of a union between the daughters of men and the sons of God. The text does not say that, notice closley: (Gen 6:4) There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. It says they were there in those days and after that.... I'm not sure they were the result of the activity going on here, or if they were a race of people or beings that were already there. It does there were children born due to the union, but the Hebrew nephiyl is not used of these children. Just a thought. later...wdc |
