Bible Question: how is the oldest man in the bible that old ? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Sadie Louise, You asked, "How is the oldest man in the Bible that old?" Methuselah lived to be 969 years old (Genesis 5:27). The Ryrie Study Bible suggests that perhaps the longevity of these patriarchs was due to different atmospheric conditions before the Flood, or that it simply took some time for the effect of sin to shorten man's lifespan. Regardless, we know that the span of life was much shorter after the flood; Moses even saying (Psalm 90:10) that it would be 70 years (80 years if due to strength). Blessings to you, Makarios |
