Bible Question: Hello. I am just starting a year long goal of reading through the entire bible. I have two questions so far. First, why didn't God find favor with Cain's gift, since he was a tiller of the soil? Second, how long did it take Noah to build the ark? |
Bible Answer: As for the first question, it is clear from Genesis 4:5-7 that God rejected Cain's offering in a loving, patient way, and in a way giving Cain plenty of opportunity to set it right. Cain's response demonstrates what I believe to be the true reason God rejected his offering to begin with: his heart was not pure. Abel gave his offering out of love for and obedience to God. Cain was more focused on matching Abel than on pleasing God, an attitude that led to extreme jealousy when God corrected Cain. I hope that helps. |
