NASB | Genesis 4:14 "Behold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Your face I will be hidden, and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 4:14 "Behold, You have driven me out this day from the face of the land; and from Your face (presence) I will be hidden, and I will be a fugitive and an [aimless] vagabond on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me." |
Bible Question: "whoever" finds me will kill me. Who are these other people? I thought at that time there was only Adam, Eve and Cain. |
Bible Answer: Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters (Adam lived for 930 years!). Cain and Abel would have been adults when the murder happened. Gen. 4:16 says that Cain had a wife, obviously his sister, and he would have had quite a few other brothers and sisters. Perhaps some of them would have wanted to take revenge on Cain for Abel's death? |
