NASB | Genesis 38:9 Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 38:9 Onan knew that the child (heir) would not be his [but his dead brother's]; so whenever he lay with his brother's widow, he spilled his seed on the ground [to prevent conception], so that he would not give a child to his brother. |

Bible Note: Greetings EdB! The topic of 'masturbation' is arguably dealt with and confronted in Deut. 23:9-14 where the Lord speaks of "uncleanness in the camp".. Other than this reference in Genesis 38:9, I can find no other passages in scripture that even come close, except exhortations against it, such as "our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit" and verses of that nature.
