In addition to Jacob's statement, think about the various events in the lives of Moses, Aaron, Minoah, Job, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Habakkuk to name a few. In our day we have such a vacuous, insipid, and uninformed perspective of God, and such a vaunted self-righteousness of ourselves, that we puzzle over verses like the one above.
