Bible Question:
Jacob/Israel As you come to Gen. chapters 37 and on, the name Jacob and Israel are alternating in no specific pattern. Why did God use his name interchangeably in these chapters? |
Bible Answer: Hi PJC, I have heard this, but not checked it personally, that "Jacob" was used when God was speaking regarding matters of the flesh, or when Jacob was walking according to the flesh, and as "Israel" when addressing spiritual matters, and when Israel was walking according to the ways of the LORD. If you check this, let me know what you find. Love in Christ, Mark |
