Bible Question: I have search for the meaning of Faith and it gives me other than the meaning..Please help me to understand Faith? thanks God Bless |
Bible Answer: Mae, you have asked possibly one of the most important questions anyone can ask, with the exception of "how can I be saved" and indeed faith plays a part in the answer to that question too. The part that faith plays in my life is that I am simply entrusting everything to God based on my knowledge that he exists that he has saved me and that he loves and preserves me. In practical terms this simply means that if I recognise any good thing in my life and the lives of others, I recognise it as the work of God and give him the glory for it. In recognising any trial or trouble in my life or the lives of others I seek the Lords will, guidance and comfort through prayer and vigilance and I LEAVE my troubles with him, putting my mind at rest just as Jesus did at Gethsemane. One of the greatest obstacles many christians face is not the trials ahead of them, but the willingness to leave them entirely in Gods hands. When we fail to completely submit to God we hold on to our worries and our stresses and the result of that is an unfortunate trend to attribute our weakness or failing to our lack of faith or a weakness of faith. When we understand that faith is a gift from God (Eph 2:8) and that it is more than ample for our needs (1Cor 10:13) we can soon see that if we blame our faith or lack of faith in any way for our failings we are in fact blaming God since he gives us faith and more than enough of it. So, where is the weakness in the chain then, if it is not our faith? The weakness is our WILLINGNESS to employ the faith that we have. If you consider your faith as a tool, to be applied in the right fashion with the correct guidance then it becomes a mighty tool indeed. The bottom line is that so many of us are tempted not to submit totally to God which is not the fault of our faith but rather the fault of our will. Faith is not Gods remote control designed to reprogram our minds, rather it is the means by which we can trust God if we are willing to relinquish control. I hope this helps NewPilgrim |
