Subject: Did Rebekah actually receive a curse? |
Bible Note: Jacob says If I give him stew, Isaac will feel my arm, know I am not Esau, and curse me. Rebekah says, If he curses you, let it fall on me, just make the stew. While he does, she prepares goatskin coverings, probably from the stomach for hair most like humans and gets Esau's clothes. Since the ruse works, Isaac does not curse Jacob, but blesses him as is recorded in scripture. Since there was no curse, there was nothing to pass on to Rebekah. The curse comes from Isaac not God. You are right that Rebekah and Jacob each suffered for the trickery, but not as a result of a curse from Isaac. Greentwiga |
