Bible Question:
IN GENESIS 6 THRU 9 WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN IT SAYS GOD SAID AND THE LORD SAID, WHY THE DIFFERENT. AND IN THE GENESIS IT REFERS THAT NOAH SENT OUT A BIRDS EVERY SEVEN DAYS, WHY THE NUMBER (SEVEN) |
Bible Answer: Genesis is written in two different ways. One way portrays God as impersonal and trancendent and the other portrays God as personal and emminent. You can see this throughout Genesis. If you look, the creation story is told twice as are others. "God" is used as impersonal. In the Hebrew text, he is refferred to as Elohim, which is a general name refferring to a god. "Lord" is used to describe God as personal. It is his personal name that he gave to Moses when asked. The hebrew word is "YHWH" which is God's personal name. |
