Bible Question: isaiah |
Bible Answer: Greetings and welcome to the forum, Isaiah, which means salvation of the Lord, was the son of Amoz and was a prophet to Judah during the reign of 4 kings - Uzziah, Hotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah during the time of the divided kingdom. Isaiah is quoted more than any other prophet in the New Testament. He is sometimes known as the evangelistic prophet and the book of Isaiah is sometimes known as the 5th gospel. The major thrust of his messages was directed to the southern kingdom of Judah. He condemned the empty ritualism of his day, and the idolatry into which so many had fallen. He also gives more prophesies of Christ than any other prophet. He lived until at least 681 BC and met his death under the reign of King Manasseh by being cut into with a wooden saw.
