The Ammonites are decendents of Lot and his younger daughter (Gen 19:31-38). Israel was instructed to leave the Ammonites alone (Deu 2:18-37). The Ammonites and Moabites couldn't enter the assembly of the LORD for ten generations, because they did not meet Israel with food and water (Deu 23:3-6). The Lord used the Ammonites, who ruled over Isreal, until Jephthah came along (Jdg 10:6-12:7). Saul battled the Ammonites (1 Sam 11:1-11), as well as David (2 Sam 10:1ff). Tobiah the Ammonite and Sanballat opposed Nehemiah and the rebuilding of Jeursalem (Neh 2:10ff) The Ammonites also seen in Jerimiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Amos and Zepheniah. Searcher |
