AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 19:16 But Lot hesitated and lingered. The men took hold of his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, because the LORD was merciful to him [for Abraham's sake]; and they brought him out, and left him outside the city [with his family]. |
Bible Question:
Still onthis answer Why was lot Hesitating or in other word Dithering to leave the place? Thanks Blessings |
Bible Answer: If you don't mind, I'd like to offer a point of view. First of all I don't know WHY Lot hesitated. I do know that everthing that he owned, all his personal possessions was about to go up in smoke. I mean he's abiding by the custom of the day, he see two strangers and offer them shelter for the night. Now every male in the city is banging on his door wanting a piece of them. He tries to defuse the situation by offering up his daughters. Now the strangers are telling him he got to leave town because the place is about to be destroyed. And to add insult to injury, the in-laws to-be had the nerve to be laughing. What, they thought this was a joke?! Personally I think that maybe the events of the evening was moving just a little too fast for Lot. Lot had alot to loose, and loose everthing he did. For most of us, I think that hesitation would have be a natural reaction. |
