Bible Question:
what was the sodomites knowledge of God, sin and deliverance? |
Bible Answer: Hi, lilmzmoyer... See the last sentence in this verse? I can't say for certain, but I've always thought that this suggestion of "one who mocked" might indicate that God had sent prophets through Sodom to warn them of His judgment. Even in our society people make fun of those who call out warning of God's coming judgment. Lot's sudden warning that "the end is near" must have sounded like making jest by mocking those prophets. They were so used to such jokes that they were unable to interpret as anything other than a joke. We aren't told explicitly how God warned Sodom, but I think we can be quite certain that such warning had been given. In Him, Doc |
