Subject: Were the babes of Sodom righteous? |
Bible Note: Every person, every child, every baby is born into this world with an inherent sinful nature. Sin is embedded within the entire human race. David said in Psalm 51:5, "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me." Psalm 58:3 says, "The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies." Ecclesiastes 7:20 says, "For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin." Of course Romans 3 describes the full depravity of the human condition summing it up with verse 10, "There is none righteous, no, not one." We inherited this sinful nature from our common forefather Adam. Romans 5:12 says, "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." We are born with a desire for sin. We don’t have to be taught to sin; we do it naturally, by nature. Ephesians 2:3 says we are "by nature children of wrath." God said of man in Genesis 8:21, "…the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth." To put it succinctly, every person ever conceived has inherited a sinful, rebellious nature.. We all deserve death and we all deserve hell, even babies. |
